I am replacing the extractor in my AR57 upper. This is an old one that I bought probably 8 years ago or so. I assume it's a Gen 1. I also assume that some changes were made to the extractor in the Gen 2 version. I received the spare parts and there is no way that the extractor and spring can be installed in my bolt. The hole on my bolt allows for the little tab on the extractor to fit in but the spring does not fit in the hole and the tab at the rear of the extractor does not fit inside the spring.
I'm looking for confirmation as to the Gen 1/Gen 2 changes and also just how the extractor is supposed to fit into the bolt. I'm figuring that the spring goes in the hole; the tab on the back of the extractor fits into the spring; and the roll pin holds it together. Does this sound right?
Discuss the FN lineup of tactical rifles; the FS2000, SCAR, and the venerable FAL.
